Akintunde, Mutalubi Aremu was born to the family of AKINTUDE of Gidigbo in Iwo, Osun State. When great men are born, they come with intellectual brilliance, so it is with Aremu. Right from infancy, he displayed rare intellects that stood him out among his peers, even up till now. This genius, in his Secondary days at Baptist High School, Iwo was best Students in Additional Mathematics 1983 & 1984; best Student in Mathematics, 1980 – 1984, best Students in Physics, 1982, 1983 & 1984, best Student in Chemistry 1982, 1983 & 1984; best Students in Biology 1983 & 1984; the above incomparable performance was topped by being the overall best graduating student of Baptist High School, Iwo in 1984. He also won Chief R. A. Nafiu’s scholarship award for best indigent A/L student in the Baptist High School, Iwo in the year 1985 where he obtained an A’level certificate in the year 1986.

He obtained his first degree with a First Class Honours at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife in the year 1992, his Master’s degree and PhD at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) in the years 1997 and 2004 respectively. It is worthy of note that he also won the Chief R. A. Nafiu`s scholarship award for best indigent undergraduate student from Iwo, Olaoluwa and Ayedire Local Governments for the years 1989 – 1992.

He is a member of many professional bodies such as the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Biotechnology Society of Nigeria, Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineering and the National Association of Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Practitioners, to mention but a few. He is also a registered Engineer of COREN.

He has taught over 30 courses at FUTA and OAU and several other institutions and also supervised several students in various institutions. He has also won several research grants – both home and abroad and has over 37 publications and several ongoing and yet-to-be published research to his Credit. He has attended several conferences across the nation while reviewing a sizeable number of academic and professional journals. He won the award of best Researcher of the Year (Group) in the year 2010.

He participated in several extra-curricular activities within and outside the University such as the Secretary to FUTAASCOOPS, Investment Secretary/Treasurer (ASUU), Associate Director, Postgraduate Diploma, Chairman, Technical Committee (Ibule-Housing), Chairman CCE Examination Malpractices Committee, member, University Housing Loan Committee. HOD Mechanical Engineering, member, Business Committee of Senate (FUTA), member, Security Committee, Elekiran-Agun Layout, Region Coordinator, Deeper Life Bible Church, State Representative, Deeper Life Campus Fellowship Publications, Patron/Technical Adviser, National Association of Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Practitioners (NARAP), Special Marshal (external), group of District Coordinator, Deeper Life, examiner to Universities and Polytechnics at both nation aland international levels (such as OAU, FUNNAB, LAUTech, Ado Ekiti, Esa Oke Yaba and Ire Polytechnics, to mention but a few), technical secretary FUTAJEET, member of editorial Board of several Journals, member of stakeholders on Environmental Policy, Ondo State, member, committee on the review of academic requirements for Engineering in Nigeria.

Prof. Akintunde is a go getter, a mentor and consummate engineer and scholar.

He is happily married with children.
